Keep Praying for your Family

woman prayingOne Jesus-follower can affect the spiritual destiny of family members for many generations. How? Through their testimony and through prayer. Sometimes it’s not possible to share our personal God stories but prayer is always possible.

Here are some scriptures we can hang our prayers on. They encourage us to keep praying and believing until our loved ones connect with God.

Acts 16:31 “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved, you and your household.” After their miraculous release from prison, Paul and Silas spoke these words to the despairing prison official who was on the verge of taking his own life. That night the jailer and his entire household (which probably included servants) believed in Jesus and were baptized.

Acts 2:39 “The promise is to you and to your children and to all who are far off.” Our faith in Christ affects not only our present family but future generations. The promise extends to those who are far off in time, distance and lifestyle.

Deut. 7:9 “God keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments.” When we pray for our family’s salvation, we enter into partnership with God.

I Corinthians 7:14 “For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the believing wife and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the believing husband.” One believing family member brings God’s blessing to the whole family.

It almost always happens that God, by means of one of a household, draws the rest to himself. He calls an individual, and then uses him to be a sort of spiritual decoy to bring the rest of the family into the gospel net. Charles Spurgeon

We can pray for our spouses, children, parents and others with confidence because we know God’s arms are open wide to receive them.

I John 5:14,15 “This is the confidence we have in God, that if we ask anything according to His will, he hears us and if he hears us we know that we have what we asked of Him.”

They shall put My name upon the children, and I will bless them. Numbers 6:27 (AMP)

Ask for the blessing of God, for His salvation, to come upon your family.

Salvation comes no other way; no other name has been or will be given to us by which we can be saved, only Jesus. Acts 4:12
